Installation Readme


To install the Software Delivery Center program update, double-click the
setup_isdc_12_update.exe file and follow the instructions on the screen.

The following information briefly introduces the IBM Software Delivery
Center program along with considerations for the usage of the program.


Introduction
============
The IBM Software Delivery Center program uses Web-based tools and technology 
to deliver software components to computers distributed throughout a corporate 
enterprise. The Software Delivery Center program consists of two parts: the 
server and the client.

After installing, more information about the new features of version 1.2 can
be found under the Help menu in the Admin console.


Considerations
=========================
This update for IBM Software Delivery Center requires version 1.1 to already
be installed on the server that you are updating.  Existing user, group, 
package, and distribution information will be maintained.

The IBM Software Delivery Center program requires the Apache Tomcat Web 
Application Server version 4.1.30 zip file to be available on the server at 
installation time.  
Apache Tomcat v4.1.30 can be downloaded from 
http://archive.apache.org/dist/jakarta/tomcat-4/v4.1.30/bin/jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30.zip

Create a directory on the server as C:\Tomcat4.  Download and place the 
jakarta-tomcat-4.1.30.zip file in the C:\Tomcat4 directory.  The installation program 
will unzip and install Tomcat during the installation of the Software Delivery Center 
program.

This version of IBM Software Delivery Center may also work with other IBM
systems that meet the system requirements. However, IBM has done no
testing with these systems and cannot provide support for using IBM
Software Delivery Center on any system other than those listed as a
"Supported system".


System requirements
===================
The following are the minimum system requirements for the Software Delivery 
Center server: 

  - Intel™ Pentium® 3 processor 
  - 512 MB of RAM minimum 
  	For best performance, use 1 GB of RAM. 
  - CD-ROM drive 
  - 200 MB of free hard disk space
  - One of the following operating systems: 
    - Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 4 or higher 
	- Windows Server 2003
  - Apache Tomcat Web Application Server v4.1.30
  - Internet Explorer Web browser (6.0+)
  - A network connection (for client access and remote administration) 
  - Internet access for the downloading of files during installation 
  
Note: The Software Delivery Center program is set up to use port 80, which 
conflicts with Internet Information Services (IIS) provided by the operating 
system. Before you install the Software Delivery Center program, disable IIS on 
the server to avoid this conflict. For instructions about disabling IIS, refer 
to the Software Delivery Center Administrator's Guide.


The following are the minimum system requirements for the Software Delivery 
Center client: 
  o Windows 2000 or XP
  o Network connection (TCP/IP)
  o Internet Explorer Web browser (6.0+)
