IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT Version 2.01 Installation README File This README file contains the latest information about installing IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT. CONTENTS ________ 1.0 Prerequisites 2.0 Installing IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT 3.0 Change History 4.0 Trademarks and Notices 1.0 Prerequisites _________________ 1) All Netfinity Servers to be monitored with the IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT must be profiled along with a phone number for contact by IBM Remote Support and an E-mail address to receive an IBM Remote Connect Account and UserID. The profiling form can be found on the World Wide Web at: http://www.pc.ibm.com/support?page=profile 2) An IBM Remote Connect Confirmation E-mail message will be sent to the profiled E-mail address within one business day containing the required IBM Remote Connect Account and UserID. The E-mail will also contain instructions and a URL location to download the required software and documentation to complete installation and configuration of IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT. 3) A dedicated workstation with the following installed and configured must be attached to the logical network of the Netfinity Servers to be monitored by IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT. a) Software Requirements i) Windows NT 4 with SP 5 or greater ii) Microsoft NT Networking with Remote Access Service iii) Internet Explorer 5 or Netscape Communicator 4.61 or better iv) Netfinity Manager 5.20.4 b) Hardware Requirements i) Pentium Processor ii) 64 MB RAM or greater iii) 56K baud Hayes compatible modem attached to tone, analog, public telecommunications line If you have any problems with this documentation please contact the IBM Service Support Center at 1-800-946-4660 between 9am and 5pm Eastern Standard Time (EST) in the USA and report you are having a problem with your IBM REMOTE CONNECT Installation. Have the machine type and serial number of your Netfinity Server ready. 2.0 Installing IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT __________________________________________________________ 1) Download IRMTCONT.EXE to the workstation from the same page where this README file was downloaded. 2) From a Windows NT administrative session, execute IRMTCONT.EXE. 3) An Extraction Welcome window will be displayed. Click NEXT. 4) A License Agreement window will be displayed. Read the License Agreement. If you agree to the terms and conditions of the License Agreement, then click I AGREE, else click CANCEL to cancel the installation of IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT. 5) A Temporary Installation Folder selection window will be displayed. Click CONTINUE to accept the default folder. The installation files will be unpackaed to the temporary installation folder and a setup program will be launched. 6) An IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT logo image will be momentarily displayed. Then a Setup Welcome window will be displayed. Click NEXT on the Setup Welcome window. 7) Another License Agreement window will be displayed. Read the License Agreement. If you agree to the terms and conditions of the License Agreement, then click YES, else click NO to cancel the installation of IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT. 8) An Information window will be displayed. You should understand all the information displayed. This is the same information contained in this README file. Click NEXT. 9) A Choose Destination Location window will be displayed. Click NEXT. 10) A Select Components window will be displayed. Click NEXT. 11) A Select Program Folder window will be displayed. Click NEXT. The IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT program files will be installed in the destination location, an IBM Remote Connect Agent icon will be installed in the All Users Startup folder, and an IBM Remote Connect Agent folder will be installed in the All Users Start Programs menu. 12) The User Guide located in the START/PROGRAMS/IBM REMOTE CONNECT AGENT folder will automatically open. This document is the "IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT User Guide" referred to at the beginning of this README file. The User Guide will automatically open to the IBM Remote Connect Agent for Windows NT Configuration page. Follow all instructions on this page. 13) A Setup Complete window will be displayed. Select the NO, I WILL RESTART MY COMPUTER LATER radio button.
