This package includes the kernel specific Intel Linux driver from the 6.2 CD 
release to support RedHat 7.2. Provided is the file e1000.o compiled for kernels 
2.4.9-e.3, 2.4.9-e.3BOOT, 2.4.9-e.3enterprise and 2.4.9-e.3smp. All 4 versions 
are contained in the tar file. This driver supports Intel 82546 silicon.

The driver is released in binary form. Simply copy the e1000.o files into the 
appropriate subdirectories. For example: 
/lib/modules/2.4.9-e.3/kernel/drivers/net/e1000.o Then load the driver: insmod 
e1000
