The filename of this package, as downloaded from IBM's website, may be a part number with a .exe extension. - Execute the IBM IPMI ASR package. - Follow the directions that appear on the screen. - Verify that the ASR service is running by accessing: Start ->Administrative Tools ->Services Then find the service named "IBM Automatic Server Restart Service for IPMI" and verify that the status of that service is "Started". 2.2 Uninstall steps: NOTE: The IBM IPMI ASR package is a self-extracting executable that automatically installs the IPMI ASR application. The filename of this package, as downloaded from IBM's website, may be a part number with a .exe extension. - run the IBM IPMI ASR package with parameters as shown: xxxxxxxx.EXE -s -a -remove where xxxxxxxx is the base filename or part number assigned to the IPMI ASR package. 2.3 Other: - Before installing this software, make sure the most recent IPMI driver package and IBM IPMI library layer package are properly installed. 3.0 Configuration Information ------------------------------- 3.1 The restart timer defaults to a value of 255 seconds. If a system with a large amount of memory is configured to perform a complete memory dump in the event of a system failure, then the default timeout value may cause the system to restart before the memory dump is complete. To set a customized vaule for the restart timer, run the IBM IPMI ASR package with parameters as shown: xxxxxxxx.EXE -s -a -install ZZZZ or for unattended mode (see section 5.0): xxxxxxxx.EXE -s -a -install -n ZZZZ where xxxxxxxx is the base filename or part number assigned to the IPMI ASR package, and ZZZZ is the timeout value in seconds. Timeout values from 255 seconds to 3200 seconds are allowed. If a value outside that range is entered, 255 seconds will be used. 4.0 Unattended Mode --------------------- 4.1 Steps for unattended mode. NOTE: The IBM IPMI ASR package is a self-extracting executable that automatically installs the IPMI ASR application.
