1.0  Overview

This package includes diagnostics version 5.10.146 for Windows 
NT 4.0 and Windows 2000 for the 10/100 EtherLink Server 
Adapter by 3Com PN 09N9901 and other adapters in the 3C98x 
family.


1.1   Limitations
_________________

Microsoft Service Pack 5 or higher is required to support the 
diagnostics in Windows NT 4.0.

This new v2.1a sw release replaces the current v2.0b sw release.

3.0   Build and Installation Instructions
_________________________________________

Windows NT/2000:
1.  Ensure that the adapter is physically installed in your server
    or workstation prior to installing the driver software.
   
2.  If you are using Windows NT, verify that your system is upgraded 
    with Service Pack 5 or later.
   
3.  Boot the computer and start Windows NT/2000.

4.  Log in to the Windows NT/2000 Administrator account.

5.  Extract the executables to a directory on your on your hard drive
    (ex. C:\3C980).

6.  Execute C:\3C980\setup.exe.

7.  In the first window, click 'Next'.

8.  Click 'Yes' to accept the Software License Agreement.

9.  Select the 'Custom' installation option.

10. Select 'Install the 3Com NIC Diagnostics only' click 'Next'.

11. Follow the steps on the screen to complete the installation.
    
12. Restart the computer.
