This driver must be used with Netware v5.1 or higher and can be used with Novell Cluster Services (NCS) v1.01 or higher. This driver has been tested and certified with the following hardware and software: Model 3526 Fibre Channel Controller (FW v04.01.02.07) Model 3542 Fibre Channel Controller (FW v04.01.02.07) Model 3552 Fibre Channel Controller (FW v04.01.02.07) Model 3560 EXP500 Expansion Storage Unit Model 3530 EXP200 Expansion Storage Unit Netfinity FAStT PCI Fibre Channel Adapter Driver v6.50h Netware v5.1 Novell Cluster Services (NCS) v1.01 1.1 Known Issues / Limitations ======================= When running an Novell NetWare NCS Cluster and a path failure affects the Heartbeat volume you may see the volume moving from the preferred path to the alternate path every few seconds in the SM7client. This is corrected by locating the server that is forcing the heartbeat volume to change paths and verify that any path failures are repaired. If a cluster node was brought online during a path failure the IBM FAStT Host adapter driver may need to be unloaded and reloaded after the volume is returned to the preferred path. 2.0 HOW TO INSTALL THE DRIVER ============================= 1. To load the driver, copy the IBMSAN.CDM file to the C:\NWSERVER directory on the server. 2. Edit the C:\NWSERVER\STARTUP.NCF file and make the following changes: a) add the following line after the LOAD SCSIHD.CDM file: LOAD IBMSAN.CDM b) Add the /LUNS (if not already there) and the /ALLPATHS parameters to the QL2200.HAM driver for the FAStT PCI Fibre Channel Adapter. Without these parameters, the alternate paths will be hidden. An example C:\NWSERVER\STARTUP.NCF file is as follows: LOAD MPS14.PSM LOAD IDECD.CDM LOAD SCSIHD.CDM LOAD IBMSAN.CDM LOAD IDEATA.HAM PORT=1F0 INT=E LOAD IPSRAID.HAM SLOT=5 LOAD AIC78U2.HAM SLOT=10005 LOAD AIC78U2.HAM SLOT=10006 LOAD QL2200.HAM SLOT=2 /LUNS /ALLPATHS LOAD QL2200.HAM SLOT=1 /LUNS /ALLPATHS 3. Restart the server for the changes to be made active. 3.0 DRIVER FUNCTIONS ==================== 1. Failover between adapters and controllers on as many paths as can be detected. 2. When a failed path is restored, I/O will fail back to the original path. 3. You can create volumes (both native NetWare and NSS partitions) on the shared storage media. 4. You can type LIST DEVICES at the console and see all the device paths, including the inactive paths. 4.0 Unsupported Configurations ========================= Configurations that are not supported with this level of code are listed below. Fibre Channel loop environments with the IBM Netfinity Fibre Channel Hub, machine type 3523, in conjunction with the IBM Fibre Channel Switch, types 2109-S16 or 2109-S8. In this configuration, the hub is connected between the switch and the Fibre Channel RAID Controllers. 5.0 WEB Sites and Support Phone Number ================================== 5.1 IBM Support Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/support 5.2 IBM eServer xSeries Marketing Web Site: http://www.ibm.com/pc/us/eserver/xseries/index.html 5.3 If you have any questions about this update, or problem applying the update go to the following Help Center World Telephone Numbers URL: http://www.ibm.com/planetwide 6.0 Trademarks and Notices ======================= 6.1 The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: IBM Other company, product, and service names may be trademarks or service marks of others. 7.0 Disclaimer ============ 7.1 THIS DOCUMENT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
