The IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software provides a complete PCI Hot Plug solution on Windows 2000. The IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software comprises of the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Filter Driver, the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Alert Driver, and the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Alert Service. 1.3 The IBM Netfinity Active PCI Software provides: o PCI configuration checking of the Hot Added adapter o Bus speed mismatch warning o Power Fault Warning o Log failure to the system events 2.0 Change History ---------------------------- 1.0.0.7 to 1.0.0.9 o Version 1.0.0.8 was never released o IBM ServeRAID enhancement for multiple adapter support. o Installation and update process enhancement. 3.0 Installation and Setup Instructions ----------------------------------------- 3.1 Installing the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software You must install the latest BIOS available from the web before installing the IBM Netfinity ctivePCI Software. You can download these products from the Web Site listed in the configuration information section below. 1. Install the latest BIOS on the system. 2. Download the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software file from the Netfinity Support web page and extract the files onto a diskette. 3. Insert the diskette into the floppy drive. 4. Select "the Hardware Wizard" from the System Properties window or select "Add/Remove Hardware" from the Control Panel. 5. Select "Next" 6. Select "Add/Troubleshoot a device" and then "Next". 7. Select "the Unknown device" and then "Next". DO NOT SELECT Add a new device. 8. Select "Finish". 9. Follow the instructions on the setup wizard until the program is installed. (Make sure to select "search for a suitable device driver" when prompted) 10. Reboot The IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software will be installed and started. The IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Device is represented in the Device Manager as "IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Device" under the "System devices" class. A reboot will be required to configure the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Filter Driver. 3.2 Updating to 1.0.0.9 IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software We do not support "Update Driver". You must uninstall the previous version of IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software from the device manager and reboot. Then, you install the new version. 1. Download the new version IBM Netfinity ActivePCI Software file from the Netfinity Support web page and extract the files onto a diskette. 2. Uninstall the IBM Netfinity ActivePCI from the Device Manager and select "reboot". 3. After the system is up, Windows 2000 will detect a new device and prompt "Found New Hardware Wizard". 4. Insert the new version of IBM Netfinity ActivePCI diskette and follow the instructions of the Wizard. 5. After exiting the Wizard, remove your diskette and select "yes" to restart. Note: If you select "Update Driver" instead of "Uninstall", you will encounter an error in Overlapped I/O operation.
