Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor Device Drivers Version 1.08 This file contains information about the Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor Device Driver which allows an application, such as Netfinity Manager to talk to the Netfinity Advanced System Management Processor hardware. In the following discussion, the driver will be referred to by its shorter name, the Service Processor Driver. While executing flash code update commands, the device driver shall use a command timeout of 4 minutes. If a remote machine is being flashed, the user must check if the wait time prior to shutdown / reboot of the remote machine (set by the 6.3.1 command) coupled with the time for post bios memory check is less than 4 minutes. If these parameters take longer than 4 minutes on the remote machine, then the driver shall report an erroneous timeout, even though the remote flash command may have succeeded. 1.2 Service Processor Driver default timeout increased from 10 seconds to 45 seconds. For all other commands (except commands involving flash code update), the device driver default command timeout has been increased from 10 to 45 seconds. Certain commands like 2.5.3, 7.4 may occasionally take longer to execute than the other service processor commands. 1.3 Service Processor Driver upgraded for Novell NetWare 5.0. The Service Processor Driver has been upgraded to include support for Novell NetWare 5.0. The same driver can be used for NetWare 4.x and 5.0 operating systems. For NetWare 5.0, an updated fix for MPS14.PSM file (available in Support Pack 2 for NetWare 5.0) is required. This file can be downloaded from Novell's web site: http://support.novell.com If this is a new installation of the Service Processor Driver on Novell NetWare, you may encounter a problem during setup. Novell has moved some of its infrequently used kernel function calls from CLIB.NLM to CLIBAUX.NLM. For this reason, you need to make sure that CLIBAUX is installed prior to installing the Service Processor Driver. If your server does not have CLIBAUX.NLM, a copy can be obtained from Novell's web site: http://support.novell.com 1.4 Fix to Service Processor Driver only affects new installations on Novell NetWare 3.2 and 4.x operating systems. This option will install the Windows NT Service Processor Driver without requiring user intervention to answer screen prompts, unless an error occurs during installation. See the installation instructions in the READ.ME file for the command syntax. 1.6 Turn off the floppy diskette drive LED in Novell NetWare. After completing the installation of the Service Processor Driver in Novell NetWare, the floppy diskette drive LED may remain on. This release makes sure the floppy drive LED is off after the installation completes. 2.0 Trademarks and Notices ___________________________ The following terms are trademarks of the Novell Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: Novell NetWare The following terms are trademarks of the Microsoft Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: Windows Windows NT The following terms are trademarks of the IBM Corporation in the United States or other countries or both: OS/2 THIS DOCUMENT IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND.
