             1.1   Overview about this code

                   This package upgrades firmware upgrade of the HLDS
                   GCE-8400B CD-RW drive to version 1.12.
                   

             1.2   Limitations

                   This upgrade utility is compatible with Windows 98,
                   Windows Millenium Edition, Windows 2000, and Windows XP.  
                   Windows NT is not supported.

             1.3   Enhancements

                   This firmware version fixes a bug in which the GCE-8400B
                   may drop out of configuration if the eject button is pressed
                   during the system boot process.

             1.4   Level of Recommendations and Prerequisites for the
                   Update:
                   
                   - IBM recommends this upgrade only for Intellistation M Pro
                     model 6219



             1.5   Dependencies:

 
                   - This upgrade is required only if you have a 40x12x40x Max
                     CD-RW drive, model GCE-8400B.  To determine if you need this
                     upgrade:	
                       - Right click on "My Computer".  
                       - Select "Properties" from the menu. 
                       - Windows 2000 and XP:  Click on "Hardware"
                       - Click on the "Device Manager"
                       - Double Click on the CD icon.
                       - If you see the string "HL-DT-ST CD-RW GCE-8400B" next to the CD icon,
                         you have the GCE-8400B drive

                   - Fixes problem with CD-RW drive dropping out of POST 
	     configuration if the eject button is pressed during the system boot
                     process


       3.0   Installation and Setup Instructions

             3.1   Step by step instructions for this code update

                   - Download the HLDS GCE-8400B firmware 1.12 package
                   - Click on the package to extract these four files
                     - FLASH07.EXE
                     - JE4IB112.HEX
                     - MTK.SYS
                     - MTKVXD.VXD
	           - Click on FLASH07.EXE
                   - Select "HL-DT-STCD-RW GCE-8400B" on the Target Drive menu
                   - To select the source file, click "Browse".  Select the
                     JE4IB112.HEX file.  Click "Open".
                   - Click "Upgrade".
		   - When the status shows "Complete", click "Close"
                   - Important:  If you are using Windows 2000 or Windows XP,
                     you must Restart your computer.
