OS/2 MAGAZINE ANNOUNCES WINNERS OF 1994 EDITORS' CHOICE AWARDS

OS/2 World Conference, Santa Clara, Calif. -- OS/2 Magazine announced today that 16 products have been awarded its 1994 Editors' Choice Award. These products are chosen by the monthly magazine's editors, with consultation by contributing editors, columnists and product reviewers.

While evaluating products for the first-annual Editors' Choice Awards, OS/2 Magazine's editors looked for products that "make a difference" to the OS/2 community. These products are widely used and recommend by OS/2 users to their peers. "These are software and books that are sworn by, not sworn at," said Alan Zeichick, Editor-in-Chief of OS/2 Magazine. "These products represent the best of what's available today, and in many cases highlight the benefits of using OS/2, IBM's powerful 32-bit operating system."

The 1994 OS/2 Magazine Editors' Choice Awards were presented at the OS/2 World Conference and Exhibition, held July 19-22, 1994, in Santa Clara, Calif, and will be announced in the October 1994 issue of OS/2 Magazine. 

In alphabetical order by company or publisher, the products are:

* Binar Graphics Inc.'s SkyScraper 1.0, a push-button desktop manager and integration tool for OS/2's Workplace Shell.

* CFS Nevada's "REXX Reference Summary Handbook, 2nd Edition" a programmers' reference book by Dick Goran.

* Creative Systems Programming Corp.'s Golden CommPass 2.11, a communications package designed for CompuServe subscribers.

* DeScribe Inc.'s DeScribe 4.0, a feature-rich 32-bit word processor for OS/2.

* Development Technologies Inc.'s DeskMan/2 1.5, a Workplace Shell desktop manager and backup/restore utility.

* Footprint Software Inc.'s Footprint Works 1.0, a low-cost integrated office-automation application.

* IBM Corp.'s C Set ++ 2.1, a native OS/2-based 32-bit ANSI C and C++ compiler and integrated debugger.

* JP Software Inc.'s 4OS2 2.0 and 4DOS 5.0, shareware replacements for OS/2's cmd.exe and command.com command interpreters.

* Lotus Development Corp.'s cc:Mail 1.01 for OS/2, a network client electronic mail application.

* SAMS Publishing's "OS/2 Unleashed, 2nd Edition," a best-selling book with CD-ROM by David Moskowitz and David Kerr.

* SofNet Inc.'s FaxWorks 1.3 for OS/2, an integrated fax device-driver and fax-management utility.

* SofTouch Systems Inc.'s GammaTech Utilities 2.1, a collection of disk and data manipulation and maintenance tools.

* Sundial Systems Corp.'s Relish 2.12, a personal information manager for OS/2.

* Van Nostrand Reinhold's "Client/Server Survival Guide with OS/2," a best-selling book by Robert Orfali and Dan Harkey.

* Walnut Creek's Hobbes OS/2 CD-ROM, a disc filled with hundreds of drivers, shareware applications and utilities, and OS/2 updates.

* Watcom International's VX-REXX 2.0, a graphical software development tool and debugging environment for the REXX programming language.
