1)   Software Install Procedure

1.1 Place the C8 software CD in your CD drive 
1.2 The system will auto detect the CD in the drive and display the auto run banner
1.3 The Installer displays a welcome message instructing you to exit all windows programs.  [Select NEXT].
1.4 The Installer displays an End User License Agreement.  You will be asked to accept all terms before proceeding. [Select YES/NO]
1.5 A window will be displayed asking what port you would like to connect to.  [Select the appropriate port], then [Select NEXT]
1.6 A window will be displayed asking if you would like to use this printer as the default printer.  [Select YES/NO], then [Select NEXT].
1.7 A window will be displayed stating that setup has finished copying files to your computer.  [Select FINISH].
1.8 The DocuPrint C8 status monitor window will be displayed.
1.9 It is suggested that you print a test page to check the print quality of the printer. To do so, proceed with the following steps (1.9.*)

1.9.1 Select the Maintenance tab at the top of the window.
1.9.2 Select the TEST button to make a test print [Select TEST].
1.9.3 If the print quality is satisfactory, you are finished with the install.  If the print quality is not satisfactory, clean the print head using the following procedure following steps (1.9.3.*)

1.9.3.1 [Select CLEAN] on the maintance tab window.  A window will appear asking, "Do you want to clean the cartridge now?."  [Select YES].  The print carriage will move to the far left and the motor will operate for 60 seconds.
1.9.3.2 [Select TEST] on the Maintance tab window to make a test print.
1.9.3.3 If the print quality is satisfactory, you are finished with the install.  [Select CLOSE] on the print monitor.  
1.9.3.4 If the print quality is still not satisfactory, repeat the clean cycle up to two more times by repeating step (1.9.3).  If print quality is still not satisfactory see section 9 of the Quick Reference Guide for product support.

2)  Installing Adobe Acrobat Reader and the User guide
2.1 PLace the DocuPrint C8 CD-ROM in your CD-ROM Drive
2.2 When the driver setup window appears [Select CANCEL], then exit setup 
2.3 Open the "DOC" folder
2.4 Open the appropriate language folder
2.5 If you do not have a copy of Acrobat 4.0, double-click the ACROBAT.EXE file to install it on your C: drive
2.6 Copy the C8.PDF file from your CD-ROM to a folder on your C: drive
2.7 Open the C8.PDF file on your C: drive to view the DocuPrint C8 User Guide

3) Software Uninstall

3.1 Select: "START" to activate the window's START menu
3.2 Select: "PROGRAMS" on the window's START menu
3.3 Select: "XEROX DOCUPRINT C8" on the PROGRAMS pull down menu
3.4 Select: "XEROX DOCUPRINT C8 UNINSTALL" on the XEROX DOCUPRINT C8 pull down menu.

4) Application Notes

------------Compaq
PROBLEM:  The printer is resetting repeatedly when the printer driver dialog is open.
SOLUTION: Load LPT.VXD version 4.00.954. This is available from Microsoft.

------------CorelDraw v7.0 & Corel PhotoPaint v7.0
PROBLEM :  When using 'Photograph' or <ImageFix> settings the print looks defective.
SOLUTION:  Use the following application settings.
1. From the application 'PRINT' window [Select OPTIONS].  The 'PRINT OPTIONS' window will open.
2. Select the 'OPTIONS' tab in the 'PRINT OPTIONS' window.
3. In the 'SPECIAL SETTINGS' section of the window click the pull down list in the 'OPTIONS' box.
4. Choose 'BITMAP CHUNK OVERLAP PIXELS'.
5. In the 'SETTINGS' box set the value to zero. (0).

------------Corel Presentation v7.0
PROBLEM : Graphics will move and change size.
SOLUTION: Fixed in Corel Presentation v8.0.  Work-arounds are available on the Corel Web site.

------------Lotus
PROBLEM : In the printer property pages some of the backgrounds will be white.
SOLUTION: This defect does not effect printer output. Continue to print normally.

------------MS Greetings & MS Creative Writer
PROBLEM : Cannot print to the Xerox DocuPrint C8.
SOLUTION: The printer must be set as the default printer.  Do one of the following things:

OPTION 1 (For most advanced applications)
1.  Go to the "FILE" pull down menu of your current application.
2.  Select the PRINT option
3.  Select the "Xerox Docuprint C8 Printer" as the current printer on the "PRINTERS" pull down menu.

OPTION 2 (Setting the printer as default)
1. Select "START" on the windows desktop to activate the START menu
2. Select the "SETTINGS" option on the START pull down menu.
3. SELECT the "PRINTERS" option on the SETTINGS pull down menu.
4. Right click the mouse on the "XEROX DOCUPRINT C8 PRINTER" icon.
5. Select the "SET AS DEFAULT" option on the "XEROX DOCUPRINT C8 PRINTER" menu.

------------MS Excel
PROBLEM : Footer appears on multiple pages.
SOLUTION: The footer is located outside the printable area on the page. Use the print preview option on the "FILE" pull down menu to verify that the footer is located within the printable area, and extra pages are not being sent to the printer.
