This new package takes advantage of nVIDIA's new '.run' installer functionality. This RPM package can be used against most any kernel flavor within the supported distributions. - Easier to use via provided helper scripts. With the mechanics of this package, every time you change kernels whether it be UP to SMP, or picking up a new errata kernel, you can use the provided scripts to do a 1-step reconfiguration of the driver to work with the new kernel. - Better documentation on how to use this package, and how to take advantage of other more advanced installtion options available to you. - Also provides example configuration files for XFree. FIXES: - Minor graphics issues. - Minor multi-monitor issues. PREREQUISITES: N/A HOW TO USE: 1. You must be ROOT user with no X-server running (init 3). 2. Check for existing nvidia packages, at prompt type: 'rpm -qa | grep nv' 3. Remove any previous package, for example: 'rpm -e nvidia-2.4.18.26.7.x_4496-1.i386.rpm' 4. Install the new package: 'rpm -ivh nvidia-4496-7.i386.rpm' NOTE: This will install the package file onto the system, but does not configure the new driver. 5. Configure the new package by executing script: '/usr/hp/graphics/nvidia/configure' NOTE: This will place/build, and configure the nVIDIA accelerated graphics module. **It will also move aside any current XF86Config file and put a standard nVIDIA one in place. FOR MORE INFORMATION: See the documentation provided in '/usr/hp/graphics/nvidia' for more information on this package, advanced istallation options, and more example XF86Configuration files and options.
