DESCRIPTION:  This SoftPaq creates a bootable diskette containing UIA files 
needed to successfully run the QuickRestore process to reinstall the Compaq 
factory configuration of Windows ME on the Presario 5000Z-5UV (Rent-A-Center 
model ONLY). 

HOW TO USE:

1. Download the SoftPaq into a temporary directory on your local drive. The file 
downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq 
Number above.

2. Double-click on the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 
The Softpaq launches a self extractor utility.  Place a formatted floppy diskette 
drive A: and click "Unzip" to create the bootable diskette.

3. After the diskette is completed, you may delete the temporary directory.

IMPORTANT: Do NOT continue until you have also:
          - Created an Emergency Repair Disk #2 from Softpaq SP18963
          - Obtained the Compaq QuickRestore CD for the Presario 5000Z-5UV 
             (Rent-A-Center model)   


Instructions for QuickRestore Process on Presario 5000Z-5UV (Rent-A-Center)

1. Start the process by inserting Disk #1 in the floppy drive and boot the computer.
This disk will autorun with the following message displayed at startup:
  
 "This diskette will clear the UIA the hard drive and erase any existing image files 
  from the System_Sav partition."

It then prompts to push any key to continue....

2. Next, the user will be prompted to confirm each deletion (UIA and image files) 
with a Yes or No. Choose "Yes" for each deletion.  After completing both deletions, 
it displays the following message. 

 "The UIA is cleared and the image files are erased.  Please insert the QuickRestore 
  CD and reboot the system..."

3. Insert the QuickRestore CD and reboot the system. The QuickRestore process will 
prompt when to insert the "Emergency Repair Disk" (Disk #2, SoftPaq SP18963). 

4.  Once the Emergency Repair Disk has been read, the process prompts for the 
QuickRestore CD again and the QuickRestore process completes.
