Q:  Can the Lexmark Internal and External networking options be
    used with Windows for Workgroups or Windows 95?

A:  Currently this type of setup is not supported by Lexmark. 
    A 3rd party LPR is currently the only way that it may be possible 
    to print through a Windows for Workgroups or Windows 95 network 
    to our networking options. 


Q:  Why does the NPU (Network Printer Utility) give a 35 error on an 
    OS/2 Server?

A:  The parameters in the PROTOCOL.INI may not be set correctly.  When 
    the NPU is installed the SAPS should be increased by 3.  Also 
    the LINKS should be increased by 10 and the USERS should be set to 7.  
    If they are running Communications Manager the ELEMENTS should be set 
    to 1375.
     

Q:  Why is a third party printer giving some 'garbage' when printing with 
    our external networking options?

A:  It could possibly be that it does not support the same enhanced 
    parallel communications that our newer printers support.  In the 
    NPU (Network Printer Utility) under SETUP ADAPTER try setting the 
    mode to 'Standard' (It will default to 'Enhanced').


Q:  Why won't the WinWriter line of printers work in WPS (Windows Printing 
    System) mode with Windows NT?

A:  Currently neither Microsoft or Lexmark has a WPS driver available for 
    NT.


Q:  Why won't the Lexmark laser printer print across a Windows for 
    Workgroups network.

A:  Make sure that the setting relating to 'Direct to port' or 'Fast 
    printing direct to port' is turned off.  If this option is enabled 
    it will try to print directly to the physical port on the PC and will 
    not be rerouted through the network.


Q:  Why does Mac Services for Windows NT stops when printing from a Mac 
    to NT using a Lexmark Postscript .PPD?

A:  With older versions of the PPD there was a bug that would not set the 
    PSVERSION correctly.  The section PSVERSION should be changed from
    PSVERSION=" " to PSVERSION="( )". Note that the blank is a spacebar. 


Q:  Why is the PS driver not working correctly with NT 3.5.

A:  There were some PS printing problems with NT 3.5 that were corrected 
    with Service Pack 2. Service Pack 2 can be obtained from Microsoft.


Q:  What is required to get MarkVision for OS/2?

A:  OS/2 3.00 Revision 8.235 (If not apply the latest fix pack
    for Warp) is required. Also, LAN Server 4.0 or OS/2 Peer to Peer.


Q:  Why won't the WinWriter 200 print across a Windows for Workgroups 
    network?

A:  The WinWriter requires Bi-directional communications so it is required 
    that it be directly connected to the PC that is printing.


Q:  Will the drivers that come with the printer work with NT or will 
    special drivers be needed?  

A:  The standard Windows drivers that come with our printers will not 
    work with NT. Usually the needed drivers will come standard with NT or
    they can be obtained from Lexmark.  Some printers are not supported 
    under NT or will require that it's 'Emulation' driver be used.
