ATM PS2 Driver Workaround Whenever an Adobe Type I font is chosen, either the font does not display correctly or it prints out as Courier or Times New Roman when using a Lexmark Postscript driver. Resolution: For versions of Adobe Type Manager 3.0 and later please do the following: 1. Exit to a DOS Prompt. 2. Type in the command cd\windows and press . 3. Type in the command edit atm.ini and press . 4. Press the Page Down key on your keyboard until you are at the end of the file. Press one time to insert a blank line. 5. Add the heading [PSDriverNames] after the blank line. This line is case sensitive and should be typed exactly as it is read. Press . 6. Add the line lexps=Yes directly beneath it. This line is also case sensitive. Press . 7. Choose File and then choose Exit. If you do not have a mouse you can access this menu by pressing the key and then choosing the letter "F." When prompted if you want to save this file choose Yes. 8. Restart Windows. You will now want to locate your ATM Control Panel program. It is typically located in the Program Group called Main. In the ATM Control Panel you will need to remove all of the installed fonts. When prompted do not choose to remove them from your disk. Before you remove them you should go into Add and write down the path under Target Directory for Font Metrics files. This will be the directory you will need to reinstall the fonts. 9. After removing the fonts, you should exit the program and restart Windows. 10. Upon returning to Windows, access the ATM Control Panel program again. Choose Add. Make sure that a box is checked that reads Autodownload for Postscript printer. If this box is not checked then the entry in the ATM.INI file was not correct. Go back to step 1 and repeat the instructions to see where the error occurred. If it is checked then under Directories choose the path that you have written down for the Font Metrics files. You will see all of your fonts in here. Select them all and add them back into the program. Close the program and restart Windows. Versions of Adobe Type Manager prior to 3.0 are not supported in Windows 95. If you are in Windows 3.1x and you have Adobe Type Manager version 2.6 or earlier you will need to install a generic Postscript printer driver. If you choose Main, Control Panel, and Printers, and choose Add, you will find a selection for Postscript Printer. This driver will not be used for printing. It is only used to let Adobe Type Manager know there is a Postscript printer present so it can set up the fonts correctly. After this is done, restart Windows and follow from step 8 to the remainder of the fix to get your fonts operating properly. Any questions pertaining to this fix should be addressed to Adobe Technical Support.
