This is documentation for tNotes 1.0 (English) software
This documentation is at my knowledge free of errors
for tNotes.exe file version 1.0.3.206. However take note that the images might
be slightly outdated.
tNotes is a small software for taking quick notes. Usefull for
answering the phone ("Do you have a pen and a piece of paper?").
tNotes is freeware, that means it is absolutely free. However, if you
like it, you are encouraged to send a donation of $ 10.
Click here to give. If you can't (or
don't want to) donate, please just send me an e-mail
to tell me where you live (country, city) and to tell me what you do
with my software.
- You can store up to 250 notes with up to 1000 characters in each note
- Notes are automaticaly saved (you do not need to click a button or
select a menu item to save your notes)
- Starts with Windows and minimizes to the tray
- Appearance fully configurable
- Support for multiple users
- Support for any style of navigation (navigation bar, clickable
list, menu and keyboard shorcuts)
tNotes should run on any machine with Windows 95/98 installed
The following files (DLLs) are required:
- borlndmm.dll
- cp3245mt.dll
- vcl40.bpl
You can get those files on Tom Software website
and many distribution websites and FTP servers, shareware and freeware CD-ROMs, etc.
You can use this software at the following conditions:
- You can use tNotes free of charge for non-commercial purpose only
- You can't held the author, the distributor or any other person responsible
for any breakage, lose of data or money, etc. caused by the use of this
software.
You can distribute this software at the following conditions:
- You can't charge for the software (you may charge the media used
for distribution and a small fee for the service of distribution)
- You include all of the files in their original state (unmodified)
- You do not need a permission for massive distribution (CD-ROM,
FTP server, web site, etc) but you must contact the author to inform
him of you actions
New in this version
- The Options dialog now have many options and setting (not just some element
present for preview)
- The View and Help menus are fully fonctionnal
- tNotes can now be lauched at Windows startup (from an option); you do not
need to add an icon to you Start / Startup menu
- Menu now all have a shortcut for easy access to you favorite features
Bugs fixed in this version
- tNotes doesn't prevent Windows from shutting down and does not close with
a violent message (Beta 2, when ask to close from Windows, was closing (when
it was closing) with a message Destroy!; this message was there for
debugging but I forgot to remove it)
- Removing a note and immediately creating a new one does not get back
the subject from the previously removed note
Present and working in Beta 2
- Multi-user
- Notes are saved in .ini files. File name and location are choosed
by the user. Notes are no more saved to the registry.
- Navigation bar buttons now have images on them. Those buttons allows you
to go to any note, or to add or remove a note, without using the list on
the left.
- The configuration dialog allows you to change any setting without affecting
any other user.
- Closing the main window doesn't close the software. An icon in the system
tray (right side of the Windows taskbar) allows you to reopen the main
window which will restore to it's previous state. It is then easy and quick
to use tNotes to take a note when needed, even in an emergency situation.
