This is dedicated to all of you! *Testers: Thanks to these awesome people for testing and suggestions: -Negke -Scampie Installation ------------ This map requires the Quoth mod to play. Quoth can be downloaded from Quaddicted here: http://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/quoth.html Extract the apsp3 folder of this archive into your quake directory and run the game with the command line "fitzquake.exe -quoth -game apsp3 +map apsp3", where "fitzquake.exe" should be changed for the exe of whatever engine your are using. Note that you may need to increase the amount of allocated memory by adding something like "-heapsize 128000" to the command line. Note: If you would rather have the files in your quoth folder, feel free to copy maps/apsp3.bsp and sounds/ambience/blood.wav into your quoth folder. You can then run the game with the command line "fitzquake.exe -game quoth +map apsp3". This is useful if the engine you are using doesn't support quoth base game loading with the -quoth parameter. Compatibility ------------- This level busts through many limits, so in order to play it you need a modern Quake engine with raised limits. The limits broken are marksurfs, faces, signon buffer size, edicts and models. The engine I recommend using is FitzQuake, although the Quakespasm engine (a port of Fitzquake) is more suitable for users on Linux or Mac. Fitzquake: http://www.celephais.net/fitzquake/ Quakespasm: http://quakespasm.sourceforge.net/ Enhanced Win/GLQuake: http://user.tninet.se/~xir870k/ LEVEL INFORMATION ================= I started working on this level in 2005 and intended to release it as part of a level pack for the original Quoth mod called Chapters (I think... so long ago I forgot). However, I kind of got fed up with it after working on it for many, many hours, and kind of just stopped. Since then it has more or less languished on my hard drive, and remained an annoying little project that I didn't finish but I couldn't bring myself to scrap because I'd invested too much time into it. I had a couple of periods where I would work on it a little bit and make some progress, but it got so big that working on it became a real chore. It wasn't until recently that I decided that I must finish it in order to be able to move on with my life, so I've been spending hours and hours in front of the computer slowly and inefficiently finishing it off. Thankfully, it's now finally finished. Story ----- It was almost 60 years since the attacks on the New Tennessee Trade Plaza. 60 years since terrorists planned and executed the most violent jihad against the freedom loving, 100% democratic 2 party voting for American people. For 60 years the war on terror had been fought by the American Military across all the oil rich nations of planet Earth, but now it was nearly over. The battle on Earth was nearly over at least. US intelligence gathered recently by extremely reliable sources had revealed that the group responsible for the attack on the Trade Plaza 60 years ago has begun amassing its forces for a new attack. This, however, was no ordinary attack - sources were saying that this time, the attack was to come not from commercial aircraft, not from shoes, and not from mobile phones or communist casio terrorist wrist watches. Oh no, this time the attack was to come from ANOTHER DIMENSION. Stewart was a Quake Marine stationed at Outpost Bruno, a military installation near the remnants of the Trade Plaza - which was now a memorial park named Ground One. He was one of the most well regarded at the outpost, and was renowned for the crazy lone-wolf missions he regularly went on, usually armed with nothing more than a bloodied axe, a shotgun, 25 shells and a ham sandwich. Today was the day Stewart had been waiting for. He had been assigned to pass through a slipgate into the dangerous terrorist dimension to collect as much information about the plans the terrorists had to bring communism and universal healthcare to America. His orders were simple: 1. Gather as much recon on the planned attack as possible. 2. To avoid spoiling the surprise attack planned for later in the week, kill no one. Stewart was confident that he could enter the terrorist dimension and come back alive, but he really wasn't too keen on this kill no one order. In fact, Stewart was never really keen on orders and just liked to do things his own way. If killing someone was enough to ruin the surprise attack, he decided he'd just have to kill everyone to make sure the surprise attack couldn't fail... BECAUSE HE WOULD BE THE SURPISE ATTACK! Stewart packed his axe, loaded his shotgun and took a bite of his ham sandwich. The slipgate whirred and fizzled as he walked towards it. He could feel the energy begin to twist his body, then, in a flash, he was gone.
