After you clear your head a bit and look aroud you see a place you cannont recognise. As time passes and you calm you realize you cannont recognize yourself, and the only thing you have at your side is an axe and a shotgun, that surprisingly you know how to use. After some time, you get a chill running down your entire body, you heard some noise that makes you uneasy but even after that, you go for it. You have the conviction that staying in there won't help you to get the answers and you push forward into the unknown. ------------------------------------------------------------------- *Just talking I've made this Quake 1 map for the speedmap session that was in Func_Msg Board. It begun with a single idea, the thing that has been causing me pain for the last month and i wanted to share a bit of it in the good way, hence the name of the map. I mapped since 1997 but stopped around 2000 after getting tired with so many issues (missaligned brushes, leaks, compiling errors, ...) that i didn't know how to fix, because at that time i had no Internet and no friends to ask that knew more than me. I came back to the Quake world one year ago, and after seeing so many amazingly good maps i got the urge to map again. This is my first Quake release to the public, i made around 10 Quake maps back in the nineties if i sum singleplayer and deathmatch ones, but never released a single one. I'm working on 3 more so you can expect to see them this year. As time went and was almost finished with it i came to realize this is my first completed Quake singleplayer map. Before this all i did back then in the nineties was maps for deathmatch and a couple of non finished singleplayer ones. I wanted to polish it more, but i wanted too to keep it as close to a speedmap as possible and i'm still rusty, so some triggers will probably give you problems. You'll maybe need to use the ''fly'' cheat in the ''puzzle'' part. I'm not satisfied with some parts, the one i'm the most uncomfortable with is the final part, as i do think is too easy for the amount of monsters in there, but was afraid that i would make it hard if i were to use all the ideas in my head, so kept it as it is now. I have confidence that the next one won't have that problem. ------------------------------------------------------------------- *Installation - Put all the files in /quoth/maps - Add the following to the command line to run your Quake engine or create a shorcut to it with this part added: -game quoth +map sm171_cocerello - Enjoy the map. ------------------------------------------------------------------- *Thanks ID software for Quake Aguirre and Bengt Jardrup for their fantastic tools Necros and Kell for Quoth Baker for the Quake adapter to Worldcraft All the people at Func_MsgBoard that helped me
