What is Bazooka?
Bazooka is a simple but effective file launcher. You can open any file with just one mouse action. Bazooka is meant as a flexible and versatile replacement for the rather useless and primitive Windows 95 'documents' menu
For any document you plan to open often, browse your disk just once with Bazooka. After this, Bazooka remembers the file you opened, and which program you opened it with.
Examples
Example 1: you can make a shortcut to open (with one mouse action) certain .doc files with Wordpad and others with Word 97.
Example 2: you can make one shortcut to open (with one mouse action) a HTML file with notepad, another one to open the same file with Netscape.
Installing HJ-Bazooka
Simply copy the files into a directory of your choice on your hard-disk.
However, it does not matter whether the disk is write-protected or not, so you can also run it from a CD-rom or a floppy.
Optional installation instructions.
(adding an icon to a program-group)
Click the start-button on your screen with your right mouse-button and select 'open'. Then double-click the 'programs' group.
After that, double click the program group you want to install Disktective into. In that program group, RIGHT click an empty space inside the group with your mouse and select 'new' - 'shortcut'. Click the 'browse' button in 'Create Shortcut'. Browse to the directory where disktective resides on your disk. Then press the 'open' button and finish the process.
Using Bazooka: Opening files
Opening files can just be done by double clicking on a list entry in Bazooka, or do "menu/file/open".
Using Bazooka: Adding files (1)
With "menu/edit/add file" you can create a new list entry. This entry opens the file with the default associated program (in Windows). E.g. when you ad readme.txt, it will open with the default .txt editor, probably Notepad.
Using Bazooka: Adding files (2)
With "menu/edit/add file as" you can also create a new list entry. But this one does not necessarily open with the default associated program. E.g. you can open readme.txt as .wri, which means that you open readme.txt with the program associated with MS Write files, which is probably WordPad.
Future Additions
I am aware that this program leaves a lot to be desired. This is only a first version and future versions will have more options. Users are encouraged to send their ideas/wishes to: Henk Hagedoorn, hjh@usa.net .
Supported platforms:
The program runs on Windows 95 and Windows NT 4.0
It is not tested on NT 3.5, but should run on it also.
