Introduction

HTML Converter is intended for converting of Internet caches and HTML pages for offline browsing.

Internet cache converting creates exact copies of WEB sites, browsed by user ever before with its favorite browser, in desired folder. IE4, IE5, Netscape Navigator 4.xx, Opera 3.xx caches are supported.

Simple converting of HTML pages takes 2 stages:
1. A list of files from the working folder will be constructed
2. All HTML files would be processed, and all references for appropriate files would be readressed into necessary folders.

After converting you can see Web Sites or HTML pages in offline mode.

How to use

To start converting of an Internet Cache, simply enter the Internet Cache folder and folder where copies of web sites will be created. Select a cache type. Then click Convert button.
After converting, go to destination folder using any file manager (for example, Windows Explorer). There you will see a structure of web sites. Open any folder from this folder. Open any .HTM file.

For simple converting enter Workinkg Folder, where HTML pages and images were placed. Then click Convert button.
After converting all references in this pages will be changed.

Internet Cache Convert

Options

Cache Type
Selection of the following cache types:
  • IE4, IE5
  • Netscape 4.xx
  • Opera
  • Auto (automatic detection of a cache type)
Convert "http://" links to local references
If checked, references, containing full paths to sites beginning with "http://" would be converted to local references. If not checked, references wouldn't be modified.

Convert Java commands
If checked, references in Java commands, such as self.location.replace and window.open, will be converted.

Detect index pages
If checked, index pages would be detected automatically.

Download all Web Sites
If checked all sites will be downloaded. If not checked, you will be prompted for selection of desired Web Sites.

Update files
If checked current files will be modified.

Create with other name
If new file differs from existing file the new file will have other name (for example, filename_#1.ext, filename_#2.ext, etc.).

Overwrite existing files
Existing files are replaced by new files.

Cache folder
Folder with cache. INDEX.DAT file for IE4 and IE5, or FAT.DB for Netscape, or DCACHE.URL for Opera must be in this folder.

Destination folder
Folder, where copies of Web Sites would be created.

Buttons

Get IE Cache Folder button
By pressing this button, Cache folder will be taken from registry.

Convert button
Begin convert.

Exit button
Exit from HTML Converter.


Web Sites Selection
This dialog permits to select necessary Web Sites.
If Remember selected checkbox is checked, when this dialog will be queried next time, selected sites will be selected automatically.


Easy Sites Navigator

Easy Sites Navigator is a simple way to browse converted sites.
This tool allow you to open files from local sites created by the HTML Converter.
To start Easy Sites Navigator select Tools->Easy Sites Navigator menu or press Ctrl-N.
After opening of navigator press Reread button to create a list of files.
To open a file you need to click 2 times by mouse or press Enter on necessary file.
If you want to delete some file or site, select it and press Delete key.

Options

Path
Contains a path to converted sites.

Buttons

Reread button
By pressing this button, a list of sites and files will be created. Use this button every time when you have changed navigator options.

Open All button
Show all files contained in founded sites.

Close All button
Hide all files and show names of sites only.

Settings button
Opens dialog box with navigator settings.

Exit button
Close Easy Sites Navigator.

Menu

Search->Find
Search of specified string in the sites tree.

Other menus operate as navigator buttons.

Settings

Viewer
Use Default viewer to look files with registered extensions, such as HTM, HTML, JPG, GIF etc., specified in the Windows registry.

Custom viewer - specifies file extensions for Default or External viewer :
Default - specifies extensions for opening in the default viewer. Also files without exensions will be opened in the default viewer.
External viewer - specifies a path and file name of an external viewer. This viewer is used for all other extensions.
Separator of extensions is the space.

Show titles mode
If Show HTML titles bullet is checked, titles of HTML files will be shown.
If Show filenames bullet is checked, the list of files contains full files names.

File types
If Show HTML files bullet is checked, the list of files contains HTML pages only.
If Show all files bullet is checked, the list of files contains all files founded in the specified path.

Don't show files without titles
If this checkbox is checked, the list of files contains HTML pages with titles only.

Show file size
If this checkbox is checked, the list of files contains their sizes.

Don't confirm deleting
If this checkbox is checked, when you press Delete key selected file or site will be removed immediately. If not checked, the confirmation dialog will be shown.

Build list on startup
If this checkbox is checked, the list of sites will be created at startup of Easy Sites Navigator.

Simple Convert

Files list
List of files for convert.
For filling of files list you can use drag-n-drop operation.

Working folder
Directory, where the program will search files.

Open button
Open files for convert.

Recurse Open button
Recurse opening of files from the working folder.

Convert button
Converting of the files placed in the files list.

Convert Folder button
Recurse converting of files in the working folder.

Clear List button
Clears files list.

Remove button
Removes selected files.

Exit button
Exit from HTML Converter.

Menu

Tools -> Remove brackets from filenames in the working folder Removing of brackets from filenames. For example, index[1].htm will be renamed into index.htm.

Tools -> Rename *.JPEG to *.JPG in the working folder
Rename all .jpeg files into .jpg files.

License for use and distribution

Registered version

One registered copy of this software may either be used by a single person who uses the software personally on one or more computers, or installed on a single workstation used nonsimultaneously by multiple people, but not both.

You may access the registered version of this software through a network, provided that you have obtained individual licenses for the software covering all workstations that will access the software through the network, regardless of the number of persons who really use this software at a specific time.

In registered version your name will be shown in the 'About' dialog box. You will get maintenance releases and all future upgrades freely. You will also receive free technical support by e-mail.
Your registration key will work with all future releases of HTML Converter (or we'll provide you with the new one, if the keys will be changed for some reason).

Shareware version

This is not free software. You are hereby licensed to use this software for evaluation purposes without charge for an unlimited period.

Limitations of unregistered version:
  1. Unregistered version will not save settings of the program.
  2. It will add "<!-- Created by UNREGISTERED version of HTML Converter -->" string into the end of html files.
  3. We can provide only limited support with low priority for unregistered users.
NOTE: All these limitations will be removed after registration.

Distribution

Copies of the Shareware version may be distributed in accordance to the following terms:

Distribution is permitted only for the whole software package without any modifications. All accompanying files must be included. For a list of all files, see FILELIST.TXT.

No person or company may charge a fee for the distribution of HTML Converter without written permission from the copyright holder.
