Fatboy. This is a mini-mod inspired by the mutator in the forthcoming Unreal Tournament. To install, double-click the fatboyremix.umod file. To play, find the Fatboy DM or Fatboy Team gametypes in your game selection menu.

Installing and running Fatboy R

You should find this substantially nicer than the original fatboy. If you want to uninstall the original fatboy, execute setup.exe in your unreal\system directory, locate the fatboy entry, and proceed to uninstall it.

If you don't see the Fatboy gametypes in your botmatch menu, it is most likely because you have more than 16 game types already installed for Unreal. There are two solutions:

1) Uninstall all those dodgy mods that you never play; or

2) If you want to keep everything, you can still play a game of fatboy by typing at the console:

OPEN DMYOURFAVEMAP?GAME=FATBOYR.FATBOYDM

(or, for team game:) OPEN DMYOURFAVEMAP?GAME=FATBOYR.FATBOYTEAM

What's new?

I improved the calculation of fatness increases/decreases. Note that fat increases/decreases are scaled to:

1) your fraglimit;

2) your timelimit if your fraglimit is zero; or

3) the constant value of 5 if both are zero. The minimum increment is 2. This may solve some problems for a few of you.

So if you think you're ruling the server or your botmatch whipping-boys, but you don't see yourself putting on the chub, you might want either decrease your fraglimit, or set frag and timelimits to zero. I think that 3 is a pretty reasonable increment though.

You can now play FatBoy Team Game. This was a special request from Hagen Hannemann and the NUB clan. Very handy for clan training sessions, as Hagen pointed out to me. "You'll find the weak link in your chain with Fatboy Team Game." :)

I added a new HUD and scoreboard.

The "UT-esque" figure in the top left of screen will expand/contract in relation to your degree of flab. This saves having to hit 'behindview 1' to appreciate your deathmatching ability. Below the figure, there are some handy stats. The major addition is that the HUD tells you how many times you have died. You'll know why you're so damn skinny all the time now. The Fatness stat has the default value of 50%. Hint: 100% is where you want to be.

The scoreboard displays some stats which appear cryptic but are actually obvious. In DM, they are colour coded: Green is your standard fragcount; Red will tell you how many times you've been whupped by a superior entity (ie killed - handy for working out why you're so damn skinny all the time), and Blue gives the percentage of your fatness, with 50% as default, as above. Team has the same stats, in the same order, but for the sake of aesthetics I omitted the color-coding.

Suiciding is a double demerit - it subtracts from your frags, and it adds to your deathcount. This will strike some as harsh. Fortunately, I have a solution: suiciding is for lamers only, kids :]

Here's a rip from my old website, for the ethical of heart:

"All credit for this mini-mod goes to Epic. The idea is theirs, and it is a testament to the flexibility of their engine that this mod is five or ten lines of code, only. So thank the boys and girls at Epic, on a regular basis. And remember to get UT."

It's not 5 lines anymore, but it's still all to the credit of Epic that this stuff is so easy to do.

< It should be noted that this readme contains more lines than the mod itself. Well, almost :) >

Mod written by JbP, based on hearsay on the approaching release of Unreal Tournament. Distribute it, don't make money off it. (Make money off it? It's only a handful lines of code, fer chrissake.)
