Energy Weapons Testing Facility (EWTF)

Readme File, Updated 3 Nov 99

Title:EWTF
Files:EWTF.bsp, EWTF.map, EWTF.htm
Author: Karmakaze (Chris Edwards)

Level Info:

My first Half-Life level, and yes, it's a scientist killing level. No co-op, deathmatch, or difficulty settings here, just a single player map. No new sounds, graphics, monsters, demos, or models, just plain old boring Half-Life. Wait a minute; "boring Half-Life" - isn't that an oxymoron?

Construction:

Base:New level, with a few prefabs supplied with WordCraft.
Editor:WorldCraft 2.1
Build Time:About a month.
Machine Used:Pentium II 266 MHz, 32 MB RAM, ATI Rage II+
Total Coffee Consumed:20 Litres (conservative estimate).

Storyline:

Something is amiss in this scientist killing level. The Administrator has come to inspect it, to be sure it's 'up to SKC standards' (or so he claims). What he doesn't realize is that you have already entered the level, and have followed him through a teleporter. Ahead lies the Firing Chamber, where you just might be able to put the Administrator out of his misery…

Aside from the gigantic Particle Beam Generator (which requires a charge cycle before it can fire), this level also holds an experimental firing range, with the latest in Laser Turret weaponry. Prototypes of the Gauss gun and Gluon cannon can also be found in the HEV and Weapons Storage Area.

Notes:

Getting Started:

Unzip "EWTF.zip" onto your hard drive, using Winzip. Place the file "EWTF.bsp" into your Half-Life\Valve\Maps folder, and load up the game with the console ("hl.exe -console"). In the console, type "map EWTF" to load up the map. Have fun.

The Half-Life Editing Resource Centre deserves most of the credit, and Autolycus' tutorials and help were invaluable. Also of use was Handy Vandal's Almanac, maintained by Karl Jones.
